When you ask kids who they want to be when they grow up, most of them would come up with the cutest and silliest answer. So I asked my daughter the century old question, here's the conversation so far:
Janiz: Kiar, who do you want to be when you grow up?
Kiara: But I don't want to grow up.
Janiz: Huh? What do you mean you don't want to grow up??
Kiara: Let me rephrase that, I don't want to grow old, I want to be young forever -- if that's possible. But I want to grow tall, like 6 foot tall.
Janiz: Whaaaat?! I get what you mean that you want to stay young, but 6 foot tall?? Would you consider 5 foot 8?
Kiara: 5 foot 11
Janiz: 5 foot 9
Kiara: 5 foot 10
Janiz: Ok, ok. Settled. So who do you want to be when you grow up?
Kiara: Oh that...I'll have to think about it.
Janiz: So you haven't thought about it yet?
Kiara: I have, but it's a big thing mom, I need time to think. I mean, I don't want to be someone and regret all about it in the end.
Ok, fine....dork. I can't believe I'm talking to her like that! And her talking back to me like that too! First, can we actually bargain our heights?! I should have known because I would have asked to be a few inches taller! Second, I recalled my former self, 19 years ago, that's not what I would have answered. I would have said: "I want to be a princess." in a heartbeat!

While my daughter's being her princess self -- someone I would have wanted when I was her age. I played rock star for a day, someone I would have wanted in my teen years. I guess my Kiara's right, you'd have to think real hard who you want to be. But then again, that's the power of dressing up, you can be who you want to be.
