I have countless stories about drowning in my daughter's wit. A few days ago, she was doing her after school ritual, which was telling me the blow by blow account on what happened on her day. I knew for a fact that she's enjoying her days in school, that was clear to me. But in the middle of her breathless stories she said,
Kiara: She's devious mom, devious!
Me: say what?
Kiara: The girl in school, the one I was talking about. Were you even listening?
Me: I was. (Turning on the television and quickly run through the channels until I reach Disney Channel.)
Kiara: Mom? What are you doing?
Me: Waiting for the show in Disney where they get to say "devious"
Kiara: (laughed) Mom, i didn't take it out of a Disney show.
Me: So is it the books? Do I need to search through your collection of books?
Kiara: No mom, it's not even in one of those books. I just know the meaning of devious ok? Duh. Big deal.
Me: Oooohkay.

So how the hell would a 9 year old come across that word? She's WAY beyond her years. She doesn't sound like a 9 year old to me, more like 30 actually. You know when they say, children are a parent's reflection of themselves. I would strongly disagree, they're better.
