iStyle: Black and Blue

Posted By sneezeniz on May 29, 2009 at 11:33AM

Recently I had the pleasure of dressing up my life-size doll named Kiara. Except that my doll gets to complain if the clothes I've chosen seem too plain or over the top. I don't know how she does it, but she could easily make an outfit work when I thought it might have been too much.

Top from Lizzie, shorts from Ruffles, socks from department store.

It doesn't seem to make sense, I can't explain it either...Despite the heat these days, my preferred color would always be black. Is it because we're still mourning the loss of my grandma?

iStyle: Comfort dressing

Posted By sneezeniz on May 28, 2009 at 10:46AM

Everyday I feel like I'll be having a heat stroke sometime soon. The heat is unreasonable to say the least. My daughter's day this summer is made out of playing with our store neighbor kids. I tell you, Kiara plays hard, she'd end the day with sweat all over -- given we're actually inside the mall. So with the heat taking a toll on our fashion life, we're left with no choice but to comply to the "comfort first" policy.

While I, look like a genie in a bottle -- my idea of comfort dressing I guess. Loose and light clothes are what I go for these days. Blame it on the heat as well. I've been wanting harem pants since a month ago, and now I'm going crazy, I'm lovin' lovin' lovin' it.

iTrip: Sikh Temple

Posted By sneezeniz on May 28, 2009 at 10:19AM

When you're in a place too long, you think you've been everywhere possibly imaginable. Yesterday, my cousin Lisa proved me wrong. Sometimes you're also a foreigner in your homeland.

My cousin's been here a few months and she've already discovered places I've never been to. In my 28 years in Iloilo, I've never made a mental note that there is a Sikh Temple in the street where I've passed through a couple of times.

We were a little hesitant since we're not really Indians or have a drop of Indian blood but the people were very accommodating asking us to come inside. But before heading in, you just first have to wear a cover on your head -- I just don't know why it's yellow though. Also you need to take off our shoes or sandals before entering.

My cousin said she was looking for spices that day, when she saw the sign she asked around and was told that we could actually go inside to check their temple and believe it or not, eat -- for free -- well, not exactly, they don't really charge for the food they serve, you can just leave donations. For foodies like us, it was such a great experience, we get to have a taste of Indian culture in our home town!

The spices on the food were unbelievable, I loved everything they served, the bread and the tea were amazing.

We get to talk to one Indian guy, who served our food and ate with us. He was asking if we were university students having a research or something -- that definitely, we're not. We were just there to have a taste of Indian food and culture, which we now come to LOVE.

iQuote: Strangely Beautiful

Posted By sneezeniz on May 26, 2009 at 11:45AM

"Sometimes it feels like we're all living in some kind of prison, and the crime is how much we hate ourselves. And it's good to get dressed up every once in awhile and admit the truth. That when you look really closely, people are so strange and so complicated that they're actually beautiful. Possibly even me."

iStyle: Beating the heat.

Posted By sneezeniz on May 26, 2009 at 11:35AM

The weather scares me, it'd be figgin' hot for a certain time, then rain would start pouring in. Dressing up remain to be a challenge lately since it would have to be light to endure the heat and it should also be ready in case the rain steps in to ruin the outfit. Kiara wore a checkered dress which was originally intended to be women's top.

I've been going through my closet for light clothes and I came up with this one piece shirt-dress.

iStyle: Glowing on the 20th

Posted By sneezeniz on May 25, 2009 at 3:05AM

I'm a year older, but it seems that my daughter's all grown up too. I can't wear red still so my daughter wore it in my behalf.

Tank top from Big & Small, checkered shorts and stocking from department store, blazer from KOB.

I love to wear a one piece dress especially on those days when I'm just too tired to match my outfit. I'm not sure if color blocking is still in...but I'm just still into it.

iBinge: Birthday dinner at Bourbon

Posted By sneezeniz on May 25, 2009 at 2:31AM

I want to let you guys know that I'm suffering from this thing: an age vertigo. And now that I've turned a year older, I never feel like I've aged, seems like it was just as it was 10 years ago. I could now say that age is definitely but a number. Anyhoo, I spent the day doing my daily routine plus I heard mass and had a nice dinner with my family.

I was actually thinking of moving our dinner over the weekend when my brother would be in town. But my daughter is not into the whole "postponed celebrations" type of thingy. She'd reason that it looses the essence of celebrating when it's not the exact day. Oh well, dinner it is. Restaurant of choice was Bourbon, not that I'm craving for anything but that it's been a while since I last ate there.

Of course, our photographer for the night.

There was a number of people out for a wednesday night, so a "quiet" dinner would be unachievable. I'm cool with it, just as long as nobody would be singing a "happy birthday" song.

I'll take this opportunity to thank everyone who greeted on my birthday. Thank you so much for remembering. *mwah*

iStyle: Guitar weekend

Posted By sneezeniz on May 22, 2009 at 3:02PM

My daughter and I had a different way of celebrating Mother's day. It was a night spend with so much music. My daughter strumming to tunes that she came to know and we both get to sing along with her.

My daughter was all glam-ed up for our dinner so standing next to her makes me feel like her "yayabelle" I love you baby, and I'm blessed to have such a talented and beautiful daughter.

iBinge: Mother's day at Carlitos'

Posted By sneezeniz on May 21, 2009 at 3:00AM

Like I've said, I'm way too backlogged to still be blogging about Mother's day. Yes, this blog dates back on the day we celebrated Mom's day for a dinner in Carlitos'. It was one lazy day so we decided dinner in somewhere near is just about the energy we could mutter. Carlitos' is just a block from where we live but it's actually just my first time to dine in because we usually ordered their dishes to go.

Biscocho house has established itself as Iloilo's "pasalubong" center but now they're gearing into the restaurant experience. My family's been friends with the owners and though it may seem as a new venture but they've actually been into catering as long as I can remember. I love their "palabok", so when they opened I was actually looking forward to it, unfortunately, they've a different set of menu now. So we ordered my daughter's staple food which was fried chicken then tried their tenderloin steak and of course, our town's infamous "baye-baye" ala mode.

It's a good thing that we had the place for ourselves, we get to talk to the waiter, went around and took quiet a few pictures. I love the architecture, the octagon shape of the place works well in the design. The food was not bad at all, Kiara loved the chicken of course. Anyway you cook it would bring delight to my 9 year old daughter. I love their "baye-baye" ala mode, my sweet tooth was way too satisfied.

Getting to have to spend time with my daughter is more than enough gift for mom's day.

iStyle: Blued

Posted By sneezeniz on May 20, 2009 at 2:31PM

It's been a while since I've posted anything here. My schedule's pretty tight, but I'm not complaining. Anyways, I'm having a hard time choosing what to wear, more on the color actually. Since my grandmother died, I've been wearing dull colors -- tradition sake. I'm a big fan of colors and I was never afraid of it, so it's kind of hard for my part to be limited to dark dull colors.

Tank top from No Bounderies, cover up from Tea for Two, jeans from POMELO Lifestyle.

My daughter on the other hand had quiet an idea for her outfit, she just surprise me a lot of times.
